Floor Care
As a purchaser of a Satin Finish Hardwood flooring product, you must
take the necessary measures to ensure the proper care and preservation
of your floors. We cannot assume responsibility for maintaining conditions
within your building. To protect your investment, we have provided
our recommendations below.
Control Moisture
Because hardwood flooring is a living material, it will expand and
contract with changes in moisture conditions. Wood floors will expand
during the hot and humid summer months. The use of a dehumidifier
is recommended during these months. An air conditioner also acts as
a dehumidifier, removing moisture from the air. Wood floors will contract
during the dry, winter heating season. Gaps may develop between boards.
The use of a humidifier is recommended during these months. Special
Note: White stained or pastel stained floors will show dirt, scratches
and gaps between boards more prominently than dark stained floors.
A humidity level of 45% is recommended. Not only is this level ideal
for your hardwood, but it is also ideal for your health. Problems
related to moisture level variation can be minimized by proper ventilation.
Prevent Unnecessary Exposure to Moisture
Floor protectors such as mats or rugs should be checked thoroughly
to ensure no moisture is trapped underneath. Windows and doors should
be closed during rainy weather. Wall or roof leaks must be corrected
immediately. Interior drains and downspouts should be properly insulated
to prevent the development of excessive condensation moisture.
